About this site

Beaverlac is a 5,000-hectare natural heritage site in the Olifants River Mountains above Porterville — a sanctuary for wildlife and a paradise for bird lovers. Open camping on grass with access to two rivers: the Ratel (Honey Badger) and the Olifants. Famous for spectacular rock pools, waterfalls, mountain fynbos, hiking trails and mountain biking. Wildlife includes Rhebok, Klipspringer, Honey Badger, African Wild Cat, Caracal and Leopard. Birds include Black Eagle, Jackal Buzzard and Sunbirds. On-site shop sells wood, beer, wine, ice, bread and snacks (seasonal hours). NO advance booking for campsites — first come first served.
